New South Wales is the Australian state situated in the south-east of the continent. Sydney, the largest city of Australia, is the capital of New South Wales, giving home to approximately 2/3 of the state’s people. Total population of the state is above 7.7 million people, and its area is just 312 square miles. Platypus is the animal symbol of NSW. There are eleven universities in the state: University of New South Wales, University of Technology and Macquarie University are among the largest.
